About Iron Gaard

A Different Approach to RPGs
Iron Gaard started as a personal project, inspired by my own curiosity while playing RPGs. I always wondered: How are spells actually created? Who teaches the craft of making artifacts? Many games provide rich worlds, but I wanted an RPG that allowed players to explore these creative aspects more freely.
A System That Adapts to You
My goal with Iron Gaard is to offer a system that removes reliance on tables and instead uses simple mechanics and algorithms to help players shape their own experience. I believe that RPGs should be flexible—some players prefer a lighter approach, while others enjoy diving deep into mechanics. Iron Gaard is designed to let you choose how complex or simple your adventure should be.
What Makes Iron Gaard Unique?
While every RPG has its strengths, Iron Gaard focuses on a few core ideas:
- Flexible Character Progression – A skill tree that allows for creative freedom.
- Expanded Crafting & Spell Creation – Instead of preset lists, you can design your own spells and objects.
- Classic Fantasy Setting – The game takes place in Bellaria, an evolving world in development.
- Digital Support – I believe that technology can assist, rather than replace, the tabletop experience. By letting an app handle calculations, players can focus more on storytelling.
An Ongoing Journey
Iron Gaard is still growing, and I’m learning along the way. My background is in Layout and design, not programming, so one of my biggest challenges has been bringing these ideas to life through code. It’s not perfect, but I hope it will provide something new for those who, like me, enjoy both creativity and structure in their RPGs.
The Future & Community Involvement
I’d love for Iron Gaard to become a platform where players can share their own NPCs, spells, and objects. I also have plans for expansions, modules, and digital tools, but I’m always open to feedback on what would be most useful.
If this sounds interesting, feel free to follow the project, try it out, and share your thoughts. And if you’d like to support development, I’d be truly grateful if you consider joining Patreon. More than anything, I hope you enjoy the game!
