Playing is a bit different. Your Hit Points (HP) stay the same, but every class comes with its own magic skills for defense. You’re not stuck with one class either; you can mix and match skills from different classes to create a character that suits your style. Dive in and start your adventure in Iron Gaard!
The game consists of just eight steps. The system is designed to make it easy to remember most of the rules. Combine different actions strategically to create favorable outcomes for your character.
Race, History and Guild
Every character starts by choosing a race, each offering distinct traits and abilities. Next, you’ll craft a backstory (HISTORY) that provides unique skills and sets the foundation for your journey. Finally, select a guild (MAGIC SCHOOL) to define your role as a true adventurer.
Creating your character is quick and straightforward, with the deeper exploration and development of the character unfolding as you play the game rather than during the initial creation process.

Tweek the game
When you play IronGaard, you have the ability to customize the progression speed of the game, tailoring it to your desired playstyle. Players can advance in both skills and combat, with the default progression rates providing a balanced experience.
Under normal conditions:
- Skill progression is based on a 10% chance per use (rolling a 1 or 20 on a d20).
- Combat progression has a 10% chance of advancement (rolling 90-00 on a d100).
Difficulty Levels:
- NORMAL
- Skills: 10% chance per use (roll 1 or 20 on a d20).
- Combat: 10% chance (roll 90-00 on a d100).
- Ideal for long-term campaigns with gradual, deliberate progression.
- MEDIUM
- Skills: 20% chance per use (roll 1, 2, 19 and 20 on a d20).
- Combat: 20% chance (roll 80-00 on a d100).
- Balanced for campaigns that include a mix of exploration, roleplay, and combat.
- FAST
- Skills: 30% chance per use (roll 1, 2, 3, 18, 19, 20 on a d20).
- Combat: 30% chance (roll 70-00 on a d100).
- Perfect for shorter campaigns or groups seeking rapid advancement and frequent upgrades.
In addition to progression speed, you can tweak mana costs for added flexibility. The default mana cost is set at 100%, but you can reduce it to stretch your mana resources further. Lowering mana costs allows players to cast more powerful spells without exceeding their energy limits, introducing a dynamic way to adjust the game’s difficulty and pacing.
